Rakesh Rathore (born 4 March 1964) is an Indian politician from Samajwadi Party. He was a member of Bharatiya Janata Party from Sitapur (Assembly constituency) for Seventeenth Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh.

During his tenure as Member of Legislative Assembly from the Bhartiya Janata Party, he actively promoted various schemes and policies adopted by his government such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and various others. While taking Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan into a larger picture he got involved in the cleanliness drive from the root as he had started from the basic cleaning of nallas of his districts(that got overflooded during rains and rain water got fills in the house of the people, due to which people got very troubled during rainy seasons) and then further he went on to cleaning of the only river of his constituency which is the Sarayan river. He took up 2-3 JCB machines on loan and then after months and months ,he was able to get the river clean which was earlier got converted into the bigger nallas and people are about to do plotting nearby it. For such a large project he had gone to the present BJP Government for help because during rains barrage made by him(temporarily) got washed away and he wanted to make borders of river. Over the two bridges which were over the Sarayan river barricading was developed by him and his supporters so that people cannot be able to make river dirty again .He also put forward a plan to stop plastic wastes from entering the river after cleaning it. People began to go on morning walk there. Plants are also grown on its borders, children started to play there. But despite all these attempts , he got sort of money so he thought and attempts to took help from the government which was promoting missions such as :- National Mission for Clean Ganga. The mighty river can get clean only when the smaller rivers got clean. But the government did not pay any response towards them as a result during some days due to contribution of the people of the district cleaning of River Sarayan took place but after that it get stopped.

Born and raised in the Sitapur district, initially he was a footpath seller but afterwards he was able to make his shop and then it got converted into a showroom. He belongs to the middle income family now after the long struggle from childhood. So, he knows how tough it is to make his livelihood.
